Biography
Deric McNish is an Associate Professor of Acting, Voice, & Speech in the Department of Theatre at Michigan State University. He is a professional educator, voiceover performer, actor, director, voice and dialect coach, and author. He earned a PhD from The University of Colorado Boulder and an MFA from Case Western Reserve University and The Cleveland Play House. Deric is a proud member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA.

- As part of the U.S. Department of State's Specialist Program, Deric was selected by the English Language Office that serves Russia, Estonia, Belarus, Latvia, and Lithuania to coordinate a 4-month project. This aims to support English language teachers by focusing on speaking, listening, and cultural literacy using multimodal approaches such as podcasting.
- Deric was promoted to associate professor with tenure in July 2021.
- He earned the status of Certified Teacher of Knight-Thompson Speechwork in August 2020.
- His co-authored book chapter, "Performing Fluency: Drama Techniques for Teaching Oral Academic Communication," appears in Pedagogical Innovations in Oral Academic Communication (University of Michigan Press).

- He was promoted to Senior Editor of the International Dialects of English Archive.
- Deric has been awarded the 2019 Teacher-Scholar Award and he received a 2019-2020 Hub Faculty Fellowship. He was awarded the 2018 AT&T Award in Instructional Technology, the Dudley Knight Award for Outstanding Vocal Scholarship, the 2017 CAL Award for Innovation and Leadership in Teaching, and the 2017 Fintz Award for Teaching Excellence in the Arts and Humanities.
